On his way to the top of the Mont Blanc, Tête Rousse is the first manned refuge one encounters after the end station of the Tramway du Mont-Blanc at Nid d'Aigle (starting from Saint-Gervais, France). It sits at the border of a moraine at a height of 3 167 meters above sea level, and offers stunningly wonderful views of mountains to the north (Alps, Valley of the Arve, Saleve, and Jura far on the horizon – shown in my panorama) and ice covered Alpine peaks in all other directions. It also offers decent refuge-style accommodation, although it does not have running water. I took this panorama on Saturday the 25th of July 2009.
